Moteru collects nothing. That is the whole policy, and the rest of this page is just the detail behind it.
Nothing. There is no account to create, no sign-in, no identifier assigned to you, and no server that receives anything you do in the extension. We do not see the creators you scan, the posts you save, the notes you write or the tags you add, because none of it is ever sent to us.
We do not sell, rent, share or transfer any user data, for the simple reason that we never hold any.
Everything Moteru produces stays in your own browser profile on your own machine, in two places Chrome provides:
chrome.storage.local holds your settings and the cached result of your last scan of a creator.
IndexedDB, in a database named influencer_finder_db, holds your saved library: the posts you starred, with your notes and tags.
Uninstalling the extension removes both. You can also clear them at any time from Chrome’s own site and extension data controls. There is no copy anywhere else, which also means we cannot restore your library for you if you delete it.
That is the complete list. There are no optional permissions and nothing is requested later. Chrome shows you the same list on the Web Store before you install, and you can compare it against this page.
When you run a scan, Moteru asks Instagram for the same public information Instagram is already showing you on the profile you have open: posts, and the view, like and comment counts attached to them. It uses the session you are already signed in to, in your own browser, exactly as the page in front of you does.
A quick scan reuses posts the page has already loaded. A deep scan pages through the creator’s public post history. Discover, which is in beta, reads Instagram’s own suggested-accounts list for a creator you give it.
It never signs in as you, never asks for your password, and never posts, likes, follows or messages anyone. It only ever reads, and only what you can already see. It reads at a human pace, stops if Instagram pushes back, and holds to a daily ceiling on requests.
Scanning is not an Instagram feature and Instagram does not endorse it. No tool of this kind can promise you zero risk to your account, and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you. Moteru is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta.
The extension sends requests to instagram.com and to nowhere else. It has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no error logging service.
One exception is built but switched off in this version: a future release may download a small static configuration file, a handful of endpoint patterns and pacing numbers, from a content delivery URL. It is a plain download. It carries nothing about you, and it does not send anything.
This site is a set of static files. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and runs no analytics or tracking script of any kind. The host that serves the files keeps ordinary web server logs, which is true of any website you visit.
Moteru is a tool for people who make things for a living or want to. It is not directed at children under 13, and since it collects no data it collects none from them either.
If this ever stops being accurate, this page changes before the behaviour does, and the date below changes with it. If a future version needs to send anything anywhere, it will say so here in plain words and ask you first.
